TLDR : Answer Summary
When entering Thailand on a visa-exempt basis, it is generally suggested to carry 20,000 THB in cash (or its equivalent), although many travelers report they are rarely asked to show this amount. Some sources recommend being prepared with the cash just in case, especially when crossing through land borders, while the Certificate of Entry program may have reduced the likelihood of being questioned at airports.

Its unlikely you will be asked but you might as well have it on you just in case. It's so rare to he asked when flying in the only times I have heard about people being asked is at a land border

And the land borders are closed, so nobody in the last two years have crossed via land.

IF you are asked, it will be 20K THB IN CASH in THB or equivalent convertible currency (i.e. $600 USD, 550 Euros, etc). HOWEVER, since the Certificate of Entry program has been started, I have not heard of anyone being asked to show the cash.
