Do I need to go outside of Thailand after quitting my job on a Non-O Visa?

I need some advice. I quit a school I was working at and I’m on a non O by marriage to a Thai. I know I need to get a letter to cancel my work permit but, do I need to go out of the country like a non B visa or just cancel the work permit? Thanks for the help.
