Do we still have to fill out a TM28 change of address.

I thought I read somewhere it is no longer necessary.

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The TM28 form is generally no longer required for reporting a change of address in Thailand. As of the latest announcement on January 14, 2020, if you cannot stay at your registered address, you are required to inform Immigration within 24 hours of arrival at your new address using the TM27 form. It is advisable to confirm the current requirements with your local Immigration Office, as practices may vary.

as you have changed your official residence in Thailand notify your Chiang Mai Immigration Office.

Are you on an Extension of Stay for retirement ?

There's no need for agents to do something as simple as changing an address. It should be free to change the address (if needed).

What does your local immigration office say? Most immigration offices were not requiring the TM28 to be filed, and only the TM30.

John...please be more specific...

...Are you moving to a new residence in Thailand?

...Have you just returned to Thailand from travel outside Thailand?

In the last announcement from 14 Jan 2020 it is mentioned in point 2.1 that if you're unable to stay at your registered address, you need to inform the Immigration within 24 hours after arrival at the new address using the TM 27 form.

BUT best is to ask your local Immigration Office how they enforce this.

Do you mean TM30? I can't find TM27 listed anywhere.
