Do I need to file a TM30 for visa extensions in Thailand?

Quick one regarding TM30 - do you need this for all extensions in Thailand? I plan to do a normal 30-day extension on TR then 60-day COVID extension but I haven't filed a TM30 since leaving quarantine 6 weeks ago as I forgot the rule change in 2019/2020.

Therefor can I just turn up for the extensions and pay the 800-900 fee or do I explicitly need to self file on an appointment prior?

Thanks all

TLDR : Answer Summary
The TM30 is required for visa extensions in Thailand, including normal extensions and COVID extensions. Even if you have not filed a TM30 since leaving quarantine, you must file it before applying for any extensions. Fines may apply for not filing, and you can self-file TM30 either on your own or with a Power of Attorney. It's advisable to verify your local immigration office's requirements.

When you are required TM30 receipt, you NEED to report TM30 (with 800thb fine). It wouldn't work that you pay a fine, skip TM30 report, and apply for an extension. You need to prepare to file TM30(self-file or with Power of Attorney).

maybe one of the idea if you prepare to file when you apply for 30days extension .. just in case. Same building anyway.

Which immigration office?

If you are on TR, you go to MTT.

Before covid, Bangkok was easy-going with TM30 for 30days regular extension for tourism (you didn't really need tm30 receipt). You need TM30 receipt for Covid extension.

You can try...and as the TM30 online system is down..

Go to immigration and ask to self file if your landlord has not yet filed.

If I just turn up to extend my stay will I have an issue or can I do it at same time and pay fine etc. Basically I'm saying it won't make much difference if I go before and rectify or not
