I'm moving to Bangkok next week from Huahin. I know my landlord needs to file a TM30 and give me a copy. I've been told I also need to go to immigration within 24 hours and complete a TM28 form. If so, what docs do I take with me?
Answer summary
When moving within Thailand, specifically from Hua Hin to Bangkok, it is essential for your landlord to file a TM30 form with the immigration office within 24 hours of your arrival. The TM28 form is outdated and no longer required; therefore, you do not need to go to immigration for it. Your responsibility is to ensure that your landlord completes the TM30 correctly.

My situation was a bit unique. Like you, I moved from Hua Hin to Bangkok a few years ago. I didn't file the TM-28 and it came back to haunt me because I also didn't file any 90 day reports from my new address - because I was leaving the country every 5 or 6 weeks (I did have the up to date TM 30). So when I went to Bangkok to get a new extension they considered my permanent address to still be in Hua Hin. Took a week and a bunch of additional paper and letter from the landlord to sort it out. All that said, everyone is right that a TM 28 isn't normally required, as long as you're going to be doing 90 day reports from your new home prior to any new extensions.
Joel Ward That's really interesting. I have a 90 day report to be done in November prior to renewal in December. Maybe, when I go to immigration in November I should ask about TM28 and get their advice. Thank you
TM28 is not in use anymore. TM28 was for interprovincial travels. It was in use a few years ago and interfered with TM30 as a new TM30 was to be filed together with TM28 when returning to your home in Thailand. Now the TM28 has been completely cancelled and the TM30 only to be reissued when returning from abroad.
Your landlord does indeed need to register you staying at his property within 24 hours of you arriving using form TM30. However, he is not obliged to give you a copy. The TM28 form is no longer used.
