Do I Need to Apply for a New Non-B Visa Before My Current Visa Expires if I Am Outside Thailand?

My visa ends up next week but I’m still out of Thailand. But my work permit is still valid until next year (extended last March). Do I need to apply for a new non-B before my visa expires or I can apply later e.g. a few weeks before flights to Thailand resume? Will my work permit become invalid when my visa expires or are these 2 documents independent of each other? Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can wait until flights resume and consulates reopen to apply for a new Non-B visa, as your work permit remains valid independently of your visa expiration.

a Work Permit and your passport are two independent booklets.

Wait until it is known when you can return to Thailand and the consulates open up again to buy a new Non Immigrant B visa with documents of the company

Thanks Robert. My concern is I would like to come back to Thailand with a Non-B and not with a tourist visa.
