I’m returning to Thailand from the UK in 2 days... I have a non B extension for a year... I understand I need to go to immigration to fill out a notification of residence form... but do I need my landlord to sign something? Because hats going to be tough to do within 24 hrs of arriving!

TLDR : Answer Summary
Upon returning to Thailand, a landlord's involvement for completing the TM30 notification of residence depends on the province. In Samut Prakan, you may need your landlord to submit the TM30 form on your behalf, which includes providing their identification and lease details. Some users noted that this process can be done if you inform your landlord in advance. Having a cooperative landlord can simplify the procedure, especially if you are in a tight timeline.

Update for you guys-

I messaged my landlord and told him the law before I landed. He read it, I sent him copies of the pages of my passport, he went to immigration and submitted tm30, sent me the receipt by LINE, then I went with a filled in tm28, to which the officer saw the receipt from the landlord and said why are you here?

He gave me back my stuff and told me it’s all already done.

So luckily I have an on-the-ball landlord!!

normally need power of attorney empowering the foreigner to register details on the landlord’s behalf

My wife owns the condo and I have brought the TM30 by myself before without any problems or require power of attorney. Nonthaburi Immigration.

a New one for me, Thanks for the info.

in Si Racha immigration they ask that

I never heard of a power of attorney is needed to fill out and report a stay at private rented address. The enforcement of reports is indeed different at offices, some don't care, some only when re-enter Thailand, some only if you change address and some want every move longer than 24 hours. This is from the translated text about who can make the report: "According to section 38 of the 1979 immigration act, "House owners, heads of household, landlords or managers of hotels"

not all offices follow same rules

If you have a lease or rental contract you are seen as the house master and can do the report.

Yes. Samut prakan - they want it. Just bring along copies of: landlord ID, Landlord Blue book, lease agreement, your passport + the last tm30 slip (if you have it). I done mine with these.

Here you can download the form TM30, fill them in and just hand them to Immigration:

It’s Samut Prakan immigration and I know they want it... so I need my landlord to do something?

It still depends... In Jomtien you can do it yourselves, no landlord needed. But I don't know what Samut Prakan wants. :(

It depends where you live in Thailand, many immigration offices/provinces arent bothered about it, including Bangkok/Chaengwattana

It"s a bloody stupid rule...maybe the landlord lives in Oobydooby land, maybe he's sick, maybe he's on holiday, maybe he has a life/business to run...it"s a bit pathetic that when you return to Thailand you can't do the TM 30 at the airport or immigration entry point.

Last visit at Immigration it took the officer 10 minutes to check the address and fill all the details in the database. I guess you will be more than happy that they don't let you wait 10 minutes a person when you arrive with a full airplane at the airport. About 300 people in line, 10 minutes each, that will be about 50 hours in line to enter.

Where will you be staying? The form is called a TM30.

maybe he doesn't know when foregneir back

It's your landlords responsibility to inform immigration.
