Good morning all, may a stupid question but i am getting a bit confused.

The last 9 years i am on extension of stay based on employment, now based on retirment valid for one year. In CW they simply changed my extension form employment to retired after i showed them 800k Thb and some other needed papers.

So far so good, at this time noone ask for a health insurance min. 400k/40k Thb. There is still some time left until i need my new extension based on retirement, just want to be prepared as soon as possible.

Do i need for my next extension a health insurance ? If yes, can it by any national/international insurer with at least mentioned 400/40k Thb, or must it be one of this accepted insurer list ?

Btw, for sure i have my insurance already cover enough to fit the rule....

Thanks a lot in advance, Mike

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on a retirement extension in Thailand after switching from an employment extension, and is unsure if they need health insurance for the upcoming extension. Responses indicate that health insurance is not mandatory for their current type of extension. However, they must meet financial requirements regarding the maintenance of bank account balances related to the extension.

From what I understand is the only exception for mandatory health insurance for extension of stay, when y'r original visa (mostly the visa sticker in y'r passport) is/was a non imm O-A visum.

, yes you are correct, came from a Non B, just the reason changed to retirement.

Do realize that you will have to meet the financial requirements based on using banked money

As in; show the 800K baht was in the account for 3 months after you got the extension, and that the balance of the account never went below 400K baht for the rest of the year, AND that you got it back to 800K baht at least 2 months before you apply for your next yearly extension..

Don't make it any harder than you have to

It seems like you went from a Non-B VISA to yearly extensions based on employment and then last year you changed the reason from employment to retirement to get this current extension you're on

There is no mandatory health insurance requirements for the type of extension you're on.
