A friend of mines English isn't up to scratch so on his behalf. I don't want to give him false information hence my post.
He entered the Kingdom 28 December 2017 on a O-A type visa. He has since had one extension of stay based on retirement. To do this he also had to purchase additional health insurance based upon the regulations that came into effect last year. He has since married a Thai national. I remember reading a post that after extending you stay once you would be able to apply for an extension of stay based upon marriage. The major question is when applying for the extension of stay based on marriage do you have to have the mandatory health insurance.( in his case totally unnecessary as he is an ex government employee and has worldwide lifetime unlimited coverage anyway)
TLDR : Answer Summary
A person holding an O-A visa who has extended their stay based on retirement is inquiring about applying for an extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai national. Specifically, the question is whether mandatory health insurance is required in this situation. Responses confirm that if one is applying for a one-year extension of stay based on marriage, health insurance is not necessary.
