Can you open a bank account in Thailand with a Thai driving license?

A Thai driver's licence has absolutely nothing to do with a Thai bank account, quite a strange question to ask.

Why would you try to find a dodgy way to open a bank account, when it has been said multiple times there are no legal ways. Obviously it will be risky to accommodate your money. When you can just use your foreign cards, as you meant to 🤯🤯🤯

I got my bank account 4 years ago on a tourist visa and both my licenses. Now ive had a dtv for 2 years and renewed license for 5 years. None of these things are relevant or related in anyway. You can get a license on a tourist exemption and you can't open a bank account on a dtv. The license isn't a requirement for a bank account. I hope this helps.

It doesn't matter if you have a license or not. You need to own property which gives you a Thai ID number or have a long term visa.

They don’t look at your driver’s license, but at your visa. And the DTV is not eligible (or only in very rare cases).

No need for owning property or rental lease to get a residence certificate.On DTV you normally only get a tempory 2 year drivers license

I got one yesterday. I did not need lease agreement. I provided copy of house book and owner id card signed by house owner. They spoke to house owner on phone. Copy of passport. I had to go back the next day to collect.Luit *****************

I heard DLT Chiang Mai issues 5 years DL, but since it is over 1600 km away from where I live it is not worth it.Since I don't drink when I drive there is no real difference in the licence.
The 2 year licence is cheaper than 5 year license so that does not make much difference.
The medical report and residence certificate for the extra renewals cost far less than travelling over 3000 km.

Just go to Immigration to get residence certificate, in my case they only needed passport, the rest was in their system.I not own property, nor do I have a rental lease, I live together with my GF in her house, paid by me.
It would be nice to get a 5 years license, but because you officially cannot get, it will be difficult to find and have certainty about it.
And when it is far away it is not worth the trouble

Yeah, I am still looking for a DT office that gives out 5 year licences, some say you can get 5 years at some offices. How do you get your residence certificate then?

Yes, but not with a DTV visa. Having a driving license is irrelevant.
You can only really open a bank account with a Non-O or Non-B.

not true. Although BB wanted my passport they did not understand the visa system and did not recognise my long term visa stamp. However, on showing them my DL they could see my Thai address and opened an account for me.
