TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion focuses on whether one can obtain a retirement visa in Pattaya using an address in Issan (TM30), with varied opinions shared among community members. Some assert that the TM30 must be filed in Pattaya first, while others suggest that it’s possible to apply for the visa using a Pattaya address and then move. Concerns about dependency on agents and the implications of using them for visa processes are also discussed extensively, pointing out the possible complications of 'greasing' the system and the need for personal financial proof. Overall, the consensus leans towards the idea that if possible, it's better to handle visa applications without relying on agents.

you don't apply for a visa, you are applying for an 1-year Extension of Stay Permit which is NOT a "visa". And an application to an Extension can only be made on the Immigration which serves the location where he is TM30 registered!

you need to use the Immigration office which serves the area where you are TM30 registered. You don't need an agent to do it. However if you use an agent, they can send your application to another immigration, it depends on how well connected they are

I live in korat and just done a retirement visa in Pattaya and no TM 30 was needed
did you use an agent? If yes, they might be well connected, so they can apply for you on any immigration, regardless of where you are TM30 registered. Mainly in Pattaya, the whole bunch there gets heavily greased

If you can do the visa yourself without using an agent do that
Nongnuch ********
the downside is - - - you have to pay the agency every other year. If you decide to join the agency tea money system, there is no way out if it
completely wrong. If you meet the criteria for getting the Visa yourself then you can no matter how many times you have used an agent. I dont know why people like you keep posting false information.
You have misunderstood me 😕 "People like me" don't post false information! 🤓 Of course if you meet the requirements, your are free to use the agent's service or do the process by yourself. However the topic was using the agent to forge (by greasing the right palms) a visa and the extension without having to meet the requirements. Which results in you getting stuck inside the agent's "hamster wheel" and being forced to use them every other year
you clearly stated that "there is no way out if it" which is not correct. In addition a good agent does not forge the extension stamp. It is put into your passport by an immigration officer and signed up by an immigration officer in an immigration office and is as legitimate as any other stamp. The only thing that could go wrong is if they ask for your bank statements at 90 day report or in some other visit to immigration but I have never heard of that happening. Personally the only issue I had was having to go back to the office that issued my stamp to get it moved to a new passport but other than that it was plain sailing with what you call a forged stamp. I even left and re entered The Kingdom with it. Now I have got it myself from my local office. At best your comments are misleading.
I post information based in personal experience during my time in Thailand so I know it is 100% fact in my case but I know other offices can apply the rules differently or even apply different rules.
the stamp is not forged nowhere was that suggested kickbacks are paid through the agents to immigration staff to ignore certain criteria usually funds in Thailand - the point being made is that once inside a web of corruption it’s virtually impossible to escape - some folks are happy with that everyone to there own but we should deal in experience based facts
it was suggested that the Visa was forged. Look back at the comments. I can also tell you that from my personal experience it was quite simple to escape from what you describe as a web of corruption. I did so mainly because I preferred to pay 1900 baht for my extension instead of

baht. Dont argue with me anymore because I know I am right and you are wrong but you will probably continue to perpetuate your incorrect information.
The stamps are REAL, I never claimed they were fakes. The stamps will be official immigration stamps. However, once inside this "greased" hamster-wheel, it is very difficult to get out
yes, that's the only way: exit Thailand, start the whole process again, this time fulfilling all requirements and - recommended - using a different immigration (!)
and you understood, that some members have made experiences completely different from those you made? We all know, T.I.T. . . . and different Immigrations, different interpretations of rules
"the downside is - - - you have to pay the agency every other year. If you decide to join the agency tea money system, there is no way out if it".
Your exact words which are unsound and improper. You are generalising which is of no use to anyone. I suggest you take up an alternative means of filling your time.
he doesn't apply for a visa, he said he is applying for an 1-year Extension of Stay Permit which is NOT a "visa". And an application to an Extension can only be made on the Immigration which serves the location where he is TM30 registered! Some agents however can apply on a different immigration - it depends on how well connected they are . . and if he has no own money, and needs the agent to "grease" the wheels of immigration, he must be aware that in the next year he must use the agent AGAIN. If he needs the agent hamster wheel only one time, there is no easy way out of it anymore
i am not argueing with somebody who is using an illegal method in order to buy himself a longstay in Thailand. You are openly admitting that you are greasing the palms of immigration by using an agent, without you having your own money. And you should know best that is is not easy to leave the agent's hamster wheel once you have started to bribe them
you have proved absolutely nothing. You are only claiming it. Yes, have a nice day
Nongnuch ********
you are openly advocating the use of illegal methods - the use of an agent to achieve a longstay permit without being able to do the financial proof by yourself. I sincerely hope that you are aware this being a violation of Facebook standards and the group rules
not completely wrong. Once you use an agent it is hard to get away from using an agent. Some local offices won’t deal with you if you have used an agent. If you meet the criteria for the visa it is best to do it yourself.
I had no problem with my local office save for new passport but I have to agree with you that it is better to do it yourself if you can. In the middle of covid, when I suddenly found myself unable to get back to the UK, an agent was my only option to get a long term Visa extension and they did an excellent job.

Get you ur visa in Pattaya using an address in Pattaya, then move to where you want to live and do a change of address at immigration in the new location
I hope you're not talking about me. I have a lot of clues, been in and out of Pattaya for 40 years and also use the best agent in Pattaya. The guy didn't mention an agent so to do it yourself, you'd need a TM30 on file to use that immigration office. I'm smart, from America, not UK.
