Does anyone know if once you have booked your long-stay (post-ASQ) you can then cancel and rebook a new place? I am submitting my visa application online and have to give proof of my long stay in Chiang Mai for the STV, once it is approved can I cancel my long-stay reservation and book a different location? I'm just wanting to make sure this would be okay with the Thai government.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Once your long-stay accommodation is booked and visa application is submitted, you can potentially cancel and rebook a different place after receiving approval. However, you must ensure that any new booking meets the requirements set by Thai authorities, including demonstrating a fully paid first month with the proper hotel tax ID. It is important to update your accommodation information and submit a new TM30 form for reporting your stay.

The LA consulate sent an email to one poster saying they must have fully paid booking from a hotel with the hotels tax ID. That means you can’t use Agoda or Booking or any of those sites. Not sure if all embassies/ consulates have this crazy rule, but who would want to stay at a hotel for 90 days as a “tourist”.

the stv allows for 90 day stays extendable twice. I guess the need for paid up accommodation is only for the first 90 days.

I checked on the homepage of the thai embassy and it says the need for paid up accomedation is 30 days🤷‍♂️

And I was wondering since it is 14 days quarantene. Would I have to book 1 month in the same hotel for quarantene but would only have to stay 2 weeks?

I thought you had to show proof of fully paid first month at least but, if you don't, or you can arrange to get refund of that, I don't see why not, as long as you log a new TM30.

why change after approval for COE

immediately book the hotel of your choice if you change,

you have to pass that on and everything will be reassessed
