Is enrolling in a one-month course a good strategy for obtaining a Thai DTV visa?

I would just like to let everybody know who is planning to apply via the soft power DTV by enrolling on a one month couse to GO FOR IT.

I received allot of negative comments when I asked if this was wise and im pleased to say it was very wise and cost effective.

As long as you have the balance required in your account and fill out you application correctly you will have no issues at all.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shared a positive experience of applying for a Thai DTV visa by enrolling in a one-month course, noting it was wise and cost-effective. However, comments reveal mixed results, with some applicants facing rejections or issues in subsequent visa extensions. It appears that while some have succeeded with short courses, the new requirements as of 2025 may require longer study durations to ensure approval.

I got mine with a 6-month cooking course, but a good friend went for the 1-month Muay Thai course at Tiger Eye and managed to get his DTV approved...

Wait so can you get a 5 year DTV just for 1 month of study? I thought it was long term study?

If you have a note on your visa page as “soft power” io would highly likely check your current status of your course for next visits. You may be lucky this time but it could happen within 5 years.

That is not correct at all, you can find posts of applicants rejected for insufficient course length or given a 6-month TV. Many of those applicants had the correct balance and filled out the application correctly. A one month course for a DTV was the norm in 2024, it is not the case in 2025 and onwards.

Got to love definitive statements based on anecdotal evidence from a single sample. :-) ;-)

Exactly! and it does not even make sense. Notice the omission of key info such as place of application and course.

Usually people face issues during the extension by flying out then flying back in and immigration requesting more proofs
