Is it true that we can change visa within Thailand? Before covid my kids went to school there but now all of our visa are expired. Can we come with tourist visa or visa exempt and change into ED (for my kids) and Non O for me? We have Indonesian passport. Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can enter Thailand with a tourist visa or under visa exemption even if your previous visas have expired. Once in Thailand, you can apply for an ED visa for your children and a Non-O visa for yourself, provided you have 500,000 baht deposited in a Thai bank account in your name. The money needs to be in the account for at least 30 days for the initial yearly extension.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.

you transfer in the 500K baht from overseas into a thai bank account in your name only and then you can apply for the 90 day non-O visa based on raising a foreign child here. (there is no amount of time the money needs to be in the account to get the 90 day non-O visa issued)

To get the year extension you need to have the funds in your thai bank account for 30 days for the first yearly extension and 3 months for every yearly extension after that

Yes you can enter Thailand with tourist visa or visa exempt ...and with a 500,000 Thai baht deposit in Thai bank account in your name only you can get a Guardian Visa for your child with them getting an Ed Visa for school in Thailand.
