Hi!

Long shot...

is there a way to convert a tourist visa exemption (or its 30 days extension) into a guardian visa (child holds regular Ed-visa valid until next Jan) without leaving the country due to corona-virus situation?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The possibility of converting a tourist visa exemption (or its 30-day extension) into a guardian visa without leaving the country is generally feasible if you meet certain requirements. You need to have at least 15 to 21 days left on your current entry stamp or a valid extension. Additionally, you must provide proof of having transferred at least 500,000 baht into a Thai bank account in your name. This process is consistent regardless of the coronavirus situation.

it's NOT a "due to corona virus" anything, you've always been able to do this from a 30 day visa exempt or a 60 day tourist visa entry OR a 30 day extension from one of those.

thank you so much! 3 lawyers told me “no cannot do...” and then yesterday I found your group! Wow had I known this before!

Just 2 questions about the money:

1. Can they have bene transferred to me by my spouse from his thai bank account? (He holds a guardian visa also)

2. What is the time requirement for the thb 500k? 1 month, 3 months or “nothing” for this first guardian visa?

Applying at chaeng Wattana.

Thanks so much!

depending on the immigration office you're applying at you need at least between 15 and 21 days left on your current entry stamp or a 30 day extension from that AND you need to show that you transferred 500K baht into a thai bank account in your name only from abroad

Hi
@T**
- thanks so much for coordinating this invaluable resource! I have one question i'm hoping you might know; you say a Thai bank account in own name only. Uh-oh. My partner and I have a shared bank account....and we are both hoping to apply for retirement visas. Separately (ie 800,000 baht each). Is this acceptable for a couple?
