Can I re-enter Thailand on a tourist visa and reapply for Non-O ED visas after our vacation?

Hi👋

Non-O ED visas for my girls (and my guardian visa) expire 30 July.

We are planning to holiday outside of Thailand for summer break from 1 July.

Q: Can we re-enter Thailand in August on tourist visas and then reapply for Non-O ED visas?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about re-entering Thailand on a tourist visa after their Non-O ED visas expire and if they can then reapply for the same visa type. A commenter confirms that they can enter on a tourist visa and then convert to an ED visa for the girls with proper school documentation. However, the commenter notes that converting to a guardian visa must be done outside of Thailand.

You can enter on tourist visas and the girls can convert in country to a ED visa with documentation from the school.

However you won’t be able to switch to a guardian visa in country. Once the girls have their visa you’d need to leave the country and apply at a nearby consulate for a non O based on being a guardian.

thanks for your detailed reply. 🙏

That’s unfortunate. I’m my kids’ only guardian so my needing to leave the country would be tricky.

Any other suggestions? 🙏

talk to your immigration office. They may agree to do the year extension early.
