TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around whether seamen can apply for the DTV visa (Digital Nomad Visa) in Thailand, akin to remote workers. Various users share their experiences, with some indicating that they were granted the DTV visa as seamen by providing letters from their employers stating their remote work requirements. Others clarify that working at sea differs from remote working under Thai immigration rules. A notable shift in visa protocols is mentioned, highlighting increasing scrutiny and requirements at Thai embassies, suggesting that circumstances may have changed regarding who qualifies for the DTV visa.

I got it as a seaman. Like already mentioned I just got a letter from my employer saying I have to work remotely. This was also mentioned in my employment contract.

Not seaman but I got it doing FIFO mining. Just needed a letter from my employer saying I’m authorised to work remotely to hold safety meetings etc. I told my employers that I needed this so I didn’t get in trouble checking emails on break. ( win win)

And before he comments. Please don’t listen to John stanners…. He doesn’t even have this visa , and he will most likely tell you that you can’t and he is wrong.

And it's important to note the fact that you got the DTV visa in July 2034, shortly after the DTV visa was made available.

Can you share RECENT POSTS of members like you, who are offshore oil workers, that have been issued a DTV Visa.

LOTS of things have changed since the introduction months of the DTV visa. And it's apparent it's now getting more difficult to get the DTV visa for Workcation or Soft Power Activity in many Thai Embassies and Consulates..... With added requests for applicants information and even personal interview.

I'm happy for you and your DTV Visa.

BUT NOW, I recommend to others like your situation, seek the soft power activity DTV visa.

Here's your original post about your getting the DTV visa from the Thai Embassy or Consulate in Australia.

BTW...the Australia Thai Embassy or Consulates are known as being most helpful in assisting those who seek many types of a Thai Visa.

Ok so when I sent my contract , and my letter why they approved it ?

I genuinely do meetings online, read emails and give technical support.

I’m not a fifo cleaner or operator 👌
