TLDR : Answer Summary
The possibility of applying for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) while doing FIFO (Fly In Fly Out) work in sectors like oil and gas is limited. Participants discussed that DTV applications typically require proof of remote work capability. If applying through the DTV workation route, one's job must be showable as online work; otherwise, applicants are encouraged to explore the 'soft power' route, which involves engaging in activities like Muay Thai or cooking classes in Thailand. Having an employer's letter confirming remote work can support DTV applications, but a multi-entry tourist visa might be more straightforward for frequent travelers to Thailand.

if your employer give you letter of contract clearly mentioned you can "Remote work" outside your country then you can apply for DTV. but you have to create your job showing what you do is online otherwise you should apply for softpower DTV....

When i was working in oil and gas in Libya I asked the company to put a bit on my contract about remote work and attending meetings so I could apply for the DTV.

I do similar work in England (I mean the work on and off, ) my employer wrote me a letter that said that some of my work is remote. Which isn’t lying but it literally is taking a few phone calls and the occasional teams meeting.

Sure please, why not!

DTV is available in following routes:

1. Workation

2. Soft Power

3. Dependent

Soft Power route deals with one signing up for Muay Thai, Thai cooking classes, Nature Seminars, Medical reasons...

While a person needs to provide proof of 500,000 THB (duration of holding varies from Embassy to Embassy) and financial stability, you don't need to be prove that you are on a Workation/ Digital Nomad.

Application contruct and expectations can vary based on which embassy you apply at.

Please reaserch more but just for understanding, I'm sharing with you details regarding my soft power application.
