Can Polish citizens applying for a DTV Visa from Norway use their Polish residence documents?

Hello everyone, I would like to ask for advice from anyone who has experience applying for the DTV Visa via the Thai E-Visa system.

I am a Polish citizen, currently working in Norway as a fisherman. At the moment, I am still in Norway and actively working onboard a fishing vessel.

My main questions are:
 1. In this situation, should I apply through the Royal Thai Embassy in Norway, since I am currently staying and working in Norway?

Documents I currently have:
 1. Passport photo for Thai E-Visa application
 2. Passport bio page
 3. Bank statement (last 3 months)
 4. Employment contract

Additional questions:
 • Do I need to provide a Norwegian work permit / residence permit as proof of legal employment and stay in Norway?
 • Is a Letter from Employer required, or is it only a supporting document?
 • Regarding Residence / Legal Stay:
 • I live and sleep onboard the vessel due to long fishing trips (approximately 3–6 months at sea).
 • My permanent home address is in Poland.
 • In this case, can I use residence documents from Poland, or do I need to provide Norwegian residence / legal stay documents instead?

If anyone has applied in a similar situation or has recommendations on additional documents to strengthen the application and avoid rejection, I would really appreciate your advice.

Which category of DTV are you applying under? If it’s workcation then you are wasting your time and money. Fly to a neighboring country and get a multi entry 6 month tourist visa.

I think you completely misunderstand the qualifying entry schemes to get a DTV. That aside, all you really need to do is make sure that non Norwegians are allowed to apply through their Embassy. Visit the Thai Embassy website in Norway to find out if your nationality qualifies to apply. Very possible you're in for a world of hurt. Possibly an METV might see you better, how long do you plan to stay in Thailand with each visit?

I suggest you choose a soft power activity and apply through one of the nearby Southeast Asian embassies, with a known track record of approvals.

As a Polish citizen you get 60 days visa free and 90 days with extension inside Thailand. If you work as much and often as you say, then it'd be easier to do 2-3 trips a year visa free.

I don't see what good an employment contract would be. It would be impossible to do your job remotely from Thailand. I guess you could try applying under soft power but again I think your job would be a drawback

Norway doesn't have a good approval rate of DTV, you might want to take holidays and go to another country to apply for DTV where approval rate of DTV is better....

As a Norwegian that has tried the Norwegian embassy myself and got rejected there, i would not recommend using the embassy in Oslo. Only if you consider that you maybe have the perfect application with documents.

They are strict, not as strict as KL but more strict then other embassies in Asia.

If your choosing to do Norway, i would say the more documents you add to strengthen your application the better. Just make sure you make the application easy to read, and underline the important parts that you want them to read easily.

Work permit, letter from employer saying you can work remote. Maybe also explanation from employer mentioning your stay on the boat where maybe an adress might be a problem to find, if you cannot use the office adress??

You would apply via the embassy in Norway, since that is where you are physically.  However, I don’t see how you qualify for the DTV as you would not be a remote worker inside Thailand.
