How can I get my Thai e-visa stamped in my passport instead of just having it as a PDF?

U ll get it in your passport at the airport.

The visa sticker is fast disappearing. By next year, no Thai consulate will be issuing visas in the standard visa sticker format anymore. You might still see visas on arrival in the form of a large stamp from then onwards (as is the case now) for nationalities that require a visa on arrival but all others will cease to use the standard visa sticker or visa stamp by around next year.

Quite a number of consulates will be transitioning to the e-visa next month.

As far as I'm aware, after next month, only Yangon, Laos and Taipei will continue to issue visa stickers with Yangon confirming it will move to the e-visa system by the end of the year. The others (Vientiane, Savannakhet and Taipei) have yet to confirm when they will make the transition.

Not sure how you expect them to put it in your passport if you've applied online and not given it to them, but I'd take it as a positive - one less page taken up in your passport!

It is nice to have the e-visa, since it will not use a whole page in the passport.

For applicants who go to the embassy (not e-visa), you get the full page visa stamp in passport.

If you do online you get PDF if you do in person you get sticker. Makes no difference. It’s the same thing.

you applied at a thai consulate that uses the eVisa online system

you didn't apply at a "walk up consulate" where you go apply and then get your passport back with the sticker visa in it

the PDF file they sent you IS your visa, as people said print it out and show it with your passport to the officer when you stamp in

e visa is electronic only.

Passport stamps and visa stickers are legacy items that are not needed if flying in to a major airport.

Definitely carry hard copy of the pdf though. Land borders and regional airports still may need them.

BKK has auto gates for departure and I believe they're coming soon for arrival, which means there will be no human, or machine, looking at your visa sticker or PDF. This is not new technology either. Thailand are just catching up...

As others have said, just print a few of copies and keep them wherever you keep photocopies of your passport and other important backup documents.

You can't choose the format. For the embassies in the countries using the online system, you only get a PDF. Those with a "classic" paper visa on their passport are for countries not using the online system yet. In those places, the application is all done offline, and you need to submit physical documents and your passport when you apply.

Only people who applied in countries without the evisa system have a label in the passport. You can’t get that when you apply in Germany etc.

You get the stamp when entering Thailand

Print a couple of them. (Safety in numbers) Present the printout with your passport upon entry in Thailand. They will put a DTV entry stamp in your passport.

Just get a print. Should be fine..
