For LTR visa holders, can you book one way flights to BKK once you have the LTR visa and not worry about having to show a return flight? Do they give you any troubles at immigration desk?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, LTR visa holders can book one-way flights to Bangkok without a return ticket. While immigration officers might not be fully familiar with LTR visas, travelers have reported no issues when flying into Bangkok on a one-way ticket. If questioned by airline staff, presenting the LTR visa approval should suffice.

You should have no issues. If your airline gives you any grief about boarding without, show them the approval from LTR

I flew in on a one way ticket using visa exemption with expectation to collect LTR visa stamp in BKK this coming Monday. Neither my airline (Emirates) or BKK Immigration asked for evidence of onward journey.

what's a visa exemption and how did you get it?

visa exemption is the automatic entitlement to stay in the Kingdom. For most western countries it's 30 days. Many people are entitled to 30 days with no visa. Pretty sure that's true for Canada.

Yes, one way is fine. But the immigration officers barely know what an LTR is so don't expect the airline staff to know. You may have to argue a bit.

thanks-- interestingly, when I went through immigration going into BKK just this week, they had in their digital sign that you should be prepared to show Boarding pass, Passport, and evisa paper so hopefully they've updated the process ๐Ÿ™

the evisa isn't the issue it's the LTR. They don't know what it is or how to handle it. I've entered the country twice now with LTR in my passport and it's never been faster than 15 minutes

, agree, I've returned 3 times since I got the LTR. Checkin at Addis last week staff thought it was a forgery! Each time at immigration there was a curious look, called superiors. But never has a problem.

my last trip took forever to check in in Japan. They kept asking question after question and asked me if I had Thai money etc. ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ
