Hello all, hope you are well.

Looking to travel from the UK on a multi entry visa for 9-12 months mainly to Thailand with the visa run every 90days.

The cost of a return ticket London to BKk is about £600ish and a one way flights about £400ish.

Do people generally travel on a one way ticket or book the return?

& does having a one way ticket cause issues at immigration?

We want the flexibility to choose where we do our visa runs when we are in country rather than plan so far in advance. Be great to hear your opinions.

TIA.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion focuses on the considerations for traveling to Thailand on a multi-entry tourist visa using a one-way ticket. Participants share experiences regarding immigration and airline policies concerning flight tickets. Some mention that immigration typically does not mind one-way tickets, but airlines may require proof of onward travel. Advice is given about options like using onward ticket services for flexibility and cost-effectiveness.

One option you might consider is check out the prices to for example Kaula lumpur then to Bkk

I would use this kind of service

I would not worry too much on the immigration making a problem for you. It is the airline you use to get here that might ask you for one, and you won`t be able to get on the flight without one.

Thanks for the replies so far gents sounds like a one way flight will do. Trying to make things as cost effective as possible.

Note that flight from Bangkok to Europe tends to be more expensive.

Or at least to Finland it is 😭

You’re not going to get 12 months out of a multiple entry tourist visa. The max would be 9 months (with good timing).

With a ME Tourist Visa you don't need to do a visa run. A border bounce will suffice

is a border bounce just by land? So a trip to Laos by bus for example?

Generally a border bounce is land, but is also possible by air. Many fly to Cambodia and back again in order to get a new stamp. A visa run is where you go to a neighbouring country in order to buy a new visa. If you already have a ME TR you need only a border bounce

Make sure you give them proof that you’ll need a multiple entry visa. Flights in and out of Thailand or they may well give you a single entry tourist visa and will not refund the difference in price.

Immigration generally won’t care. Unless you have extensive history of entries. Your airline could. Some do. Some don’t.
