TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster plans to use a 60-day visa exemption for about 66 days in Thailand before traveling to the Philippines, then returning to Thailand with the hope of securing another 60-day exemption. Community feedback emphasizes that staying beyond the visa exemption limit is not allowed without an extension. Generally, two visa exemptions are permitted within a calendar year, but the counting year applies to the date of entry. Suggestions include applying for a multiple-entry tourist visa instead for more flexibility.

Real tourists don’t stay 60 plus 30 days than try and do the same again by doing a border run. The two visa exemption a year is targeted at these people trying to live in Thailand without a proper visa, and after your first 30 days extension they will only give you 7 days extension and that’s to give you enough time to pack your bags and leave. Real tourists has nothing to worry, l visit four times a year two weeks at a time and will be visiting many years to come.

We offer FastTrack + Prescreening which would make your 2nd entry easier, and you can fully extend your first 60 day without worry.

This can be requested with your TDAC any amount of days before your trip through:

I would avoid the 66 days cut it to 60 and apply for a tourist visa to return in the Philippines
Chris ********
Come on people, the 66 days mentioned seems like a typo to me.

Get over it.

@Chris *******
maybe he stutters
Eric **********
Punctuation please!!!🙏
Sheldon ***********
Stop the confusion and get 6 month multi entry tourist visa......costs fuck all for peace of mind.

Come and go all you want during the 6 months
Jim *******
@Sheldon **********
Even with Multi Entry Tourist Visa the holder must leave Thai every 60 days. Come back OK but not 66 days in one go.
Sheldon ***********
@Jim ******
with the metv pretty sure you can come and go as you please
Jim *******
@Sheldon **********
True, but no stay longer than 60 days at a time.
Sheldon ***********
@Jim ******
go to bali or Vietnam or anywhere else for a day or two, flights are fuck all around the region.
Jim *******
@Sheldon **********
That is alright, that is what those on METV do but still must leave Thai. Even a bus or short train ride if near the border will do.

….. if it’s still in 2025 then it counts for 2025… if it’s in 2026 it counts for 2026… pretty simple and let’s not mention that you said 66 days on a 60 day stay 🤦🏻‍♀️
Ralph *******
You can’t use your 60 days visa exemption to stay 66 days.
Todd *********
@Ralph ******
get an extension.

Or 60 days and a 3k baht fine

@Todd ********
in a climate of immigration cracking down on overstay and border runs, intentionally overstaying might have been ok last year, but you would be foolish to do it now. Never forget that there are no guarantees and the IO doesn't have to let you in.
Todd *********
@Maitin ******
it’s never a smart idea to overstay. But the penalties are clear. And no changes now.

If you ever get a chance to see how large the overstay payment section is at BKK, wander in. It will shed some light on how many do overstay. It’s a nice revenue generator for most governments
Maitin *******
@Todd ********
agreed and I have. However with all the recent press releases and general tone of the government. It just seems now is not the time to be screwing around. What worked in the past is in the past.

Again, personally don't care, my visa is sorted.
Martin *********
@Todd ********
you can't get 60 day it's only 30 days plus now your only allowed two extensions a year now with the second one being only 14 days

@Martin ********
You are so wrong.
Adam ********
@Martin ********
how can you give such bad wrong advice if you’re not sure?
Todd *********
@Martin ********
settle down big shooter. it’s still 60 Martin. No change.
Ralph *******
@Todd ********
Why are you telling me this? Tell the author!
Todd *********
@Ralph ******
because your answer isn’t particularly helpful. And I’m sure he can scroll down and see for himself.

And… there are no future problems with overstays. You pay your fine and life goes on.
Ralph *******
@Todd ********
Ok, have it your way.
Andy ***********
@To**
- you can never ever predict the future with thai immigration
Todd *********
@Andy **********
for sure. But at present, it’s a non issue.

And the rules here Could get easier. Could get harder.

Overall in Thailand, since Covid, lots of good chances. LTR best visa ever offered. DTV probably easiest visa ever offered. 30 day visa exempt changed to 60 days. All good things
Ralph *******
@Todd ********
And potential future problems.
J **************
2 visa exemptions per calendar year
Stephen ********
Where does it say this officially?
J **************
@Stephen *******
ask the attorneys
Stephen ********
Why its immigration who make the rules. I don’t see anything concrete apart from people who abuse the system doing border runs. Who clearly are living in thai. Normal tourist should be fine as your not always staying to maximise your stays.
J **************
Immigration attorneys are using “calendar year”
J **************
That’s what immigration has stated !
Nongnuch ********
@J *************
no, they only wrote "per year". They never said if they mean "calendaryear" or "one year period" 🤣 welcome to Thailand! . . some say this, some say that, there is no real way to skin the cat
Nongnuch ********
@J *************
"calendar year" ???
Claude *********
@J *************
I never see it.
John **********
You would need to apply for a 30 day extension on your first entry to stay 66 days. The years are not really relevant
Steven *******
@John *********
The years are now important. The rule that just went into effect says only two extensions per calendar year.
John **********
@Steven ******
the reality is there is no new rules, what there is is published guidance for immigration officers. That guidance says you get 1 extension on a 60 day visa exempt entry and if you have a 2nd visa exempt entry shortly thereafter you will get a 7 day extension (in reality that's not an extension, it is an extension denied stamp which gives you 7 days to leave Thailand)

The years are now important.
