I have a question i have not been in thailand since 12/20/2024 I am coming back on12/25/2025 getting 60 day visa exempt for 60 days and about 55 days later going to the philippines for 7 to 10 days then going back th Thailand until April 20 about 50 days
My question is does the 2 60 day visa exempt count for 2 in 2026 or 1 for 2025 and 1 for 2026

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question is about whether two consecutive 60-day visa exempt entries into Thailand count as one for the year 2025 and one for 2026. The responses indicate that the first entry counts as 2025, and there are concerns about new regulations affecting visa exemptions, with some suggesting applying for a multi-entry tourist visa for better certainty. There is no definitive answer regarding the immigration officer's discretion or specific counting rules for the upcoming year.
Honestly you have a bit of time ahead, I would apply for a tourist evisa to avoid the headache. I am not even sure the bureaucrats who made that mess would be able to answer to your very specific case.

Wait until the new Visa Exempt rules are announced officially on Monday

Probably at the discretion of the immigration officer, I've seen no mention of there being a reset in a new year

if you come to Thailand to make holidays, I think your plan would be fine. But immigration officer? not sure at all. If I were you, if it is so important or necessary to visit Thailand for me, I would take risk. but if not, I would not take risk. For this holidays, I guess you worked hard and maybe you give yourself time to enjoy and relax for weeks or months. And you also planed everything for this, and spent a lot of money, for all expenses, hotels, flight etc.. and your time too. But what if you are denied or you just got much shorter visa free stays in Thailand?? Then your money, time and plan will be totally ruined. Sadly no one knows what will happen. Well, If this does not matter, why not? take risk on it. But If I were you, I would go to other place where much more secure and confirmed.

I also have the same situation I entered this year first when I arrived in 2025 now I am planning to go to another country and then return to Thailand in 2026

With the greatest respect to those that have answered this before and after me there is no way of knowing for sure. What these latest changes are is to stop people living in Thailand on visa exemptions.
If I was in your position I would apply for a multi entry tourist visa. That would give you much more surity.

New rules basically mean 90 days maximum in one year on visa exempt entries.
Not true, you can do 2 visa excemtions, only the first time you can extend for 30 days and the second time for 7 days. That means 60+30 and 60+7, so 157 days in a year. But lets wait till monday when its official.
I heard it says 2 60 day exempt a year with the first exemption you can get a 30 day extension and the on your 2nd 60 day visa you are only allowed a 7 day extension, so for 1 year you can stay 90 days the first visa and 67 the 2nd, you can no longer come in on unlimited tourist free visas a yr
you get 120 days on 2 visits without doing extensions. Where are you getting 90 days? 90 days the first visit if you do the extension and 60 days on the second visit gives you 150 days.
Anyways just in case I obtained a visa. Pretty simple and easy process while doing outside Thailand.

Visa except only good for 6 months 1 year I leave every 90 days always have a problem when come back always have a problem have all correct paper work but thailand wants all tourist to have retirement visa
New laws are coming in this week.. you will only get one 30-day extension in future.. the second time you will only get a 7-day extension.. to stop people doing repeated land border bounces and staying for 90-days each time.. and same day returns will also be banned.. initially this applies to border crossings but it won't be long until it's extended to arrivals by air!
I reality the second extension is a refusal. With the refusal you are given 7 days to leave the kingdom.
The relevance is you should apply for your second extension on your very last day of stay. The 7 day clock starts running from when you apply. The 7 days is not added onto your existing permissions to stay date.
My advice would be to avoid applying for a second extension.
i guess I need to try get regular visa. I used to come on tourist visa multiple entry and leave every 90 day fly to malaysia come back same day thailand wants tourists but making it harder and harder to stay

In your case, the first one will count as 2025.
