Can I use older utility bills as proof of residence for the DTV visa application?

We were told when applying for DTV visa to include utility bills for the last three months as proof of residence in our home country. Our problem is that we moved out of that home over 5 months ago when we started traveling. Anyone else get approved with utility bills older than 3 months? Any suggestions for new nomads?

You should basicly focus on, how to show that you are actualy are in the county where you are.

In som countrys it is utility bills, but there are other ways, depending on country or Embassy.

It could be as simple as a photo of you in front of a landmark with todays newspaper.

Or check-in at a hotel.

U.S. citizen. Haven’t applied yet - this guidance about “utility bills from the last 3 months” was on a visa agent’s document of requested items — not the embassy. We can provide driver’s license and utility bills from 5-6 months ago. Anyone else have a similar issue? (If it matters, we will probably apply from HCMC, Vietnam.)

Anonymous participant - So the visa agent is probably doing something sketchy. They want to submit your application via the embassy in your home country and use “utility bills from the last 3’months” as evidence that you are still in your home country. The point of this evidence is to prove that you are outside of Thailand and within the jurisdiction of the embassy/consulate you are applying via. If you are traveling to HCMC, you would apply online via the consulate in HCMC. They don’t care about utilities in the US. What you are will upload as evidence you are in Vietnam is your Vietnam immigration entry stamp and your hotel booking.

I used a license.

Are you traveling within your home country or traveling externally? If within your home country, show your hotel bills

My bank statement was enough.

haven't seen this asked at all.

What country did you apply from and what nationality are you?

That would be helpful for other people here to give them a heads up as this is a nomad group.

Usually proof of address requested is your address in the country that you are applying from

Was this a request for additional info? If not, I applied from uk with just a photo of my driver license which had my uk address, and was approved with that

Did they request as additional documentation? Where are you applying from?
