I am looking ahead to my next visa. My son and daughter in law both UK passport holders work and live in BKK. I am currently here on an O-A retirement visa as I look after my 3 year old grandson (also U.K. PP holder). Is there a visa that would allow me to piggy back my sons visa for this purpose. TIA.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on an O-A retirement visa in Thailand and is inquiring about the possibility of obtaining a visa that allows them to stay in the country while caring for their grandson, who is the child of their son and daughter-in-law, both UK passport holders residing in Bangkok. Comments suggest exploring visa extensions based on family ties and checking with the son's employer for required documentation.

Also better to check with your son's employer, too. You need some documents from his employer...

I would say: Visa Extension - In the case of being a family member of an alien permitted a temporary stay in the Kingdom

(5) In the case of parents, the father or mother must be 50 years of age or over.

you need a Non Immigrant Visa O visa to apply for the Extension of Stay, as said I'm not sure if you can use your current visa. If not to visit the UK and return with a Non Immigrant o visa is a good idea. But I still recommend to ask the Immigration before you travel and buy a new visa

no financial requirements, as it is not a visa but an Extension of Stay, you apply for this at your local Immigration Office. Best is to visit with your son the Immigration and ask if possible and if yes the hand out with requirements

you are the parent and over 50 years of age of the alien with a permitted temporary stay in Thailand.

Your son works in Thailand and must have the Extension of Stay from the Immigration Office and you as father over 50 years of age can piggy back on his Extension of Stay.

sorry Robert I don’t quit understand. The visa extension is that extension to my sons visa and do you mean that my son has to be over 50?
