TLDR : Answer Summary
John Dworecki seeks clarification on the appropriate visa type for an extended stay in Thailand due to caring for his son. He has previously used 30-day and 60-day visas and is considering a 90-day visa for his upcoming stay. Given his circumstances, he is leaning towards the 60-day NON-O visa with the possibility of an extension. The conversation also touches on his family situation and responsibilities.

yep, being the biological father to a thai child born out of wedlock doesn't help unless you have gotten the family court or Amphur decree granting you legal parental rights

About all you could get without that is a 60 day visit thai family extension based on being the father of a thai child. That doesn't require any proof of funds, just the birth certificate (the child goes with you obviously) the house book listing, and copies of your passport etc plus 1900baht

Go to your immigration office and get the hand out listing the requirements to get the 60 day extension

That's about all there is available to you, other than that you'd have to exit/re-enter

Jomtien immigration will require a TM30 on file and you apply for the 30 days extension of stay during the week before your stamp expiration date.

Yes you can get Visa Exempt Entry into Thailand 45 days plus one 30 day extension of stay at Thai immigration office for 1900 Thai baht. = 75 days.
