Can I use my existing fixed bank account balance for my visa extension in Thailand instead of bringing new funds?

We celebrated our first year in Chiang Mai in January. My Non Immigrant O visa (married to a Thai national) will expire on April 25th. I moved the required 400,000 Baht into a fixed bank account after I received the approval for my first extension to earn a little interest.

Do I need to bring another 400,000 Baht over from the U.S to my regular bank account or can I use the same 400,000 in the fixed bank account since it has not been used? I understand it needs to season for 60 days before I apply to extend my visa.

Thanks! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about whether they can use the 400,000 Baht already in their fixed bank account for their visa extension, as opposed to needing to transfer additional funds from the U.S. They are aware that the funds should season for 60 days prior to applying for the extension. Comments clarify the types of fixed accounts in Thailand, emphasizing that only certain types can serve as proof of funds, and provide insights on the timing of the visa extension application.

Chiang Mai allows you to apply for a new extension when you have 45 days or less left on your current stamp so you can apply any time after Mar 11th

there are two types of 'fixed' accounts here

One is where the money can be accessed any time during the term of the deposit (even if you get a penalty or lose the interest) you CAN use this type of account for proof of funds

One is where the money cannot be accessed and is frozen in the account for the term of the deposit, you CANNOT use this type of account for proof of funds

And careful, the seasoning is 2 MONTHS (which is often more than 60 days ๐Ÿ˜‰) before you apply for the next yearly extension

my fixed account allows me to access the funds anytime so I should be good there. So if I keep the 400,000 Baht in the said withdrawable, fixed account I can keep using the same funds to extend my visa year after year without touching it - correct?

the seasoning requirements on the 400K baht banked money method are that the funds be in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for the next extension, there is no obligation to keep it banked after you get the extension granted

BUT

there's also no problem leaving it in the account and using it year after year for the proof of funds either
