Can I travel in Vietnam while waiting for my visa interview in Hanoi?

Hey guys, I plan to fly into Hanoi and submit my documents via the embassy/consulate, I know there is a possibility that I can be called in for an interview so I’m just wondering if anyone in Hanoi recently has been called in for an interview or Not? I wanted to travel around to Danang and maybe Hoi An while I wait, do you think there will be any issues just looking for people with past experience in Vietnam. Thanks and I appreciate any help you can give me

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses an individual's plans to fly into Hanoi to submit visa documents and inquire about the possibility of being called for an interview. Several commenters share their experiences, suggesting it is usually permissible to travel around Vietnam while waiting for an interview and reassure that interviews are rare for applicants with proper documentation. Suggestions to visit nearby areas like Danang and Hoi An are provided, along with differing opinions on the processing times of embassies in Hanoi versus Ho Chi Minh City.

you should apply it from HCMC instead

why do you say that? The agent I’m using affirmed me out of every embassy around Thailand , Hanoi was ON AVERAGE the shortest, and most consistent turn around times, but I’d love to hear your reasoning

Người tham gia ẩn danh I think HCMC processing is faster than HN :)

I've seen the exact opposite from recent reports. HCMC taking longer and longer, and someone getting approved in Hanoi in 4 days.

It is based on the docs' application and the Embassy processing 🙂 Currently, it cannot be in 4 days.

someone literally posted they got approved in 4 days. So therefore it is possible.

It is not often that Vietnam embassies request for an interview, most of our applicants that we have supported travel around freely within Vietnam. All the best with your application!

If your paperwok is ok they dont usually call you for an interview. Saigon on the other hand is like 50 % chance they will set up one. What option did you use for the DTV and what documents were submitted and we can take it from there

Hoi An & Danang are under Ho Chi Minh if you are planing to stay there ☺️ but yes you can travel around Vietnam while waiting even you apply in Hanoi either

Go and have look around the ninh binh area? Beautiful area and not too far from Hanoi.

You are fine - if you are called for an interview it is only a short flight away. A bit wet in Danang/Hoi an at the moment though :-)

thanks! Is there some place else you recommend? I’ve been to Saigon . Is it wet like rain all day everyday or just spurts of rain through the day? I live in Bangkok and that’s what it’s like here right now

Anonymous participant I think they are currently having a bit of a tropical storm in the area. What about Ninh Binh about 3 hours by road from Hanoi? It on my list for maybe September but 100% in January.
