TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus is that traveling abroad while your DTV visa application is being processed is generally not advisable. Most consulates require applicants to remain in the country they are applying from during the process. It's recommended to complete your travels before submitting your visa application to avoid any complications, such as being asked to attend the consulate in person on short notice.

Most, if not all, consulates require you to remain in the country you apply from. I suggest you apply for the visa after you have completed your 1 weeks travel

Not really an issue. Except they may ask you to come to the consulate. This happened to me with my last visa application. I got a twp day notice.
