Hey guys, I have a question regarding the blue work permit book. I have been told by my company that I can not take the book with me

while traveling abroad. Is it true?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around whether expats in Thailand can take their blue work permit book abroad while traveling. Many users report that it is not a requirement to leave the book behind, as they have successfully traveled with it. Some mention that it is company policy in certain cases to retain the work permit book. Additionally, it is noted that there are legal restrictions against employers seizing such documents.

We've had a number of cases recently where staff have been asked to show their work permit by Immigration Officers at the airport.
Murray ********
Yes sometimes the IO asks to see the work permit. This is the case at least at Sadao checkpoint.

Why would you want to take yr workpermit abroad ?
Sam *****
I use it to pick up chicks at foreign bars.

I guess it's your company's policy..? For example, I heard some companies keep all foreigner employees' work permit book and not let them keep.

Well once when I came back into the country the immigration officer asked me what I was doing in Thailand. I just showed him the wp and all was fine.

just take it with you. It's unlikely you'll be asked for it. It's only happened to me once.

Also I found that: - Any employer who keeps or seizes the work permit or any personal document of alien worker shall be liable to the

imprisonment of not exceeding 6 months or a fine not exceeding 100,000 THB, or both.

Royal Decree on the Management of Alien Worker B.E. 2560
