Coming from Canada on a 30- day,Visa Exemption stay, can my $750.00 ( converted toThai baht before leaving) be shown in cash to the Immigration officer or is a bank statement needed;. if a bank statement, please provide detailed info. One month, 2 month, balance only, debits/credits shown?

Due to a clerical error on my part my 60 day tourist visa app. was cancelled 15 days before my scheduled flight departure, not leaving me enough time to re-apply. I'm understandably nervous about doing something wrong if I decide to go the Visa Exemption route. Thanks for all of the info provided on this site.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When arriving in Thailand on a 30-day Visa Exemption stay, you do not need to convert your Canadian currency into Thai baht prior to arrival. You should be prepared to show either cash equivalent to 20,000 Thai baht or proof of funds in a bank statement if asked by immigration. It's advisable to have your accommodation address ready and keep documentation of your departure ticket as well.

On arrival into Thailand, You will be stamped in for 30 days... and that can be extended for ADDED 30 days extension of stay at your local Thai Immigration office for 1900 Thai baht.

No need to convert your Canadian currency into Thai Baht before you fly to Thailand.

Just have the equivalent of 20,000 Thai baht to show the Thai Immigration Officer if asked.

Unless you have a recent history of staying in Thailand you will not likely be questioned by Thai Immigration Officers upon arrival.

Have the address of where you will be staying...at least for a few days from arrival into Thailand.

It's possible that you might be ASKED by the airline staff on your check-in for the flight from Canada... For proof of your flight departing Thailand within the 30 days of your arrival into Thailand. ASK them.

Enjoy your trip to Thailand...

Safe travels ✈️

Thank you, Michael McNeil and

for your response. On previous visits, I've exchanged American cash (in 50's) in BKK for the best exchange rate. I thought I would have to show my 750.00 in Thai baht. So I can show American money to Immigration if asked?

As James said above, if being asked, you can just show your Canadian dollars in Canadian dollar, no need to exchange them for Thai Baht before you arrive. The important point is the Canadian dollars you have must equivalent or not less than to 20K Thai Baht.
