Need advice on my stay and hopefully someone can help. I entered on a 45 day stamp (no visa) in December and got a 30 day extension in January. I would like to cross Poipet border into Cambodia and turn around and back to Thailand same day. Can l return on another 45 day stamp? If not what are my options? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on traveling between Thailand and Cambodia after entering Thailand on a 45-day stamp followed by a 30-day extension. They ask if returning to Thailand on another 45-day stamp is possible after a same-day border crossing at Poipet, despite warnings from commenters about potential difficulties and delays at that border. Some suggest alternative borders or agencies for assistance, and the user contemplates other options like traveling to a different border or spending time in Cambodia.

Thanks for your comments: I'm actually staying with a friend in Aranyaprathet and the border is 10 minutes away this is why l was choosing Poipet. I have read some stories about problems but l also see that many agencies from Pattaya and Bangkok use this crossing. I'm not sure of what the process is but l do have a TM30 and a Thailand drivers license if that helps. There are no agencies around here as this isn't a tourist area was thinking of calling one up from Pattaya and meeting them at the border this could possibly work.

Well, why not cross the border into Cambodia here, spend a few days, then come back via a different border? Problem likely to be solved this way.

Ultimately that may be my only choice but l will ask at the border crossing before leaving Thailand. I do have another option as the Ban Laen border crossing is just 100 km down south and l was going to travel that way soon anyway. I've still got over a week to decide.

Oh I see my bad..

Are you in a hurry to come straight back? We took a train from Bangkok and spent a month traveling around Cambodia. It was awesome.

@Bonnie ******
so that's why you had no issues re-entering, it wasn't a simple border bounce

Yes but better to do it with a visa service as there a lot of reports of the border police not wanting a live traveler cross back on a border bounce…good luck

Poipet is the absolute worst land border in Thailand. Countless reports of people having trouble, being denied entry, being forced to stay in Cambodia longer, and some reports of people not even getting the 45 day stamp but instead getting 30 days. Avoid that border at all costs.

. You say "I don't understand why anyone.....". Well, that's when people just want to stay in Thailand a bit longer than they have a visa or visa exempt entry and many times cannot fulfill the requirements to get e.g. a year extension. So they 'border bounce' (go out and in again to get (till 31 of march) 45 days visa exempt, or do a 'border run' to get e.g. a new touristvisa at a Thai Embassy/Consulate in another country. With both options you can extend with 30 days in Thailand. Also some people have e.g. a multi entry visa non imm. O, with that you can stay in Thailand for 90 days. Each time you do a 'border bounce' you again get 90 days of stay. This for a year until the visa is void. Multi entry Tourisvisa the same procedure but with 60 days for a half year.

we didn't have any trouble. Got our visa and went right through

it's usually fine if you have a visa. But visa exempt is not good.

no problem getting back into Thailand with the visa exempt either

. So many bad reports from Poipet. Many are denied re-entry and told to get a visa from the consulate and then fly back to Thailand. Buy hey, if you want to advise the OP to go for it, that's your call!

@Bobby *******
you say many people but you don't have any actual people that have had problems. We were worried to get our visa on arrival because we heard in this group that people have had trouble. It was simple and easy. Nobody tried to ask extra or say we had to use an agent.

@Bonnie ******
the people that had problems were those here on questionable volunteer visas, yet had no 90 extensions, as they were supposed to have. The same thing is starting to happen with those that were on ED visas, yet didn't have any of the 90 day extensions as they should have. This latest ED visa issue started last month with some Chinese, that resulted in 17 immigration agents in 3 provinces losing their jobs, and currently being investigated for prosecution.

You didn't do a border bounce to Poipet, you came from the Cambo side. Poipet is tricky for a border bounce, Ban Laem is your friend from BKK.

@Mma ******
we did not do a border bounce because we wanted to go see Cambodia. I don't understand why anyone would go to the trouble to travel across the country just to go right back.

I'm just going by previous reports in this group and the "other" Thai Visa group. It has been reported widely, even before covid, to avoid Poipet, due to the inconsistency of the immigration officers there. However, I will reiterate, if you're happy to advise the OP that everything will be fine, that is your prerogative

good for you then but many others have had issues
