Is it mandatory that I apply for my next 90 day extension in person after traveling outside Thailand? I read that you can't do it online if you re-entered from another country.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring whether they must apply for their next 90-day extension in person after re-entering Thailand, based on information suggesting that online applications may not be allowed in such cases. Several comments clarify that the user may be confusing the 90-day extension with the 90-day reporting requirement and share experiences regarding the online application process for 90-day reports. It’s generally suggested to attempt an online submission, noting that personal application might be necessary depending on the circumstances.

Good plan. That's what I'll do. Online first, then in person if needed. Thanks for your quick and helpful response.

I was pre-planning for a future trip when I posted my question, so it will be a while before I can test this 90 day report plan. But I will report back to you when I do.

I think you're not talking about a 90 day "extension" at all 😮 and instead mean a 90 day report <- that's due 89 days from the date you stamp back in to thailand.

People have been denied online 90 day reports with the reason that the first 90 day report from returning from abroad has to be done in person, BUT other people reported they did one and were approved after returning to thailand from abroad

SO

you're out nothing by trying to file a 90 day report online, I mean the worst that will happen is they'll deny it and who knows maybe they'll approve it

Your 90 day report is due 89 days after you stamp in to thailand (the day you stamp in is counted as day one no matter what time you stamp in) so I'd try to file online 2 weeks before that date and see what happens

I filed my 90 day report today on line and even though I put 474 instead of 484 as my new address it was accepted within 3 hours!

just so you and everyone else knows

IF you have done a previous successful online 90 day report, you only need to fill out your passport number and your nationality then press the blue magnifying glass icon and it will fill out the report with the date from the last successful online report for you.

I had changed my address since my last on line 90 day report. I had also registered the bew one at local immigration. I will remember that tip though it will save a lot of time.

you mean you got the approval email and the PDF that had the receipt of you having done a 90 day report with your next due date
