What is the process for leasing a car in Thailand as a foreigner on a DTV visa?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently residing in Thailand with a DTV visa, and I have all the required documents in place, including proof of residence and a Thai bank account. I’m interested purchasing a car through leasing and would love to hear from anyone who has experience with the process.

Could anyone provide information on:

Which companies offer car leasing options for foreigners with a DTV visa?

What documents or requirements should I be prepared for?

Are there any tips or things to watch out for when leasing a car in Thailand?

What are the typical rates for leasing? Do the rates for foreigners with DTV visas differ, or are they the same as for Thai residents? Does it vary from bank to bank?

Thanks in advance for your help!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry concerns the experience of leasing a car in Thailand while holding a DTV visa. Despite having the necessary documentation, responses indicate that leasing options are limited and geared more towards car rentals. Key points shared include the difficulty of obtaining car financing as a foreigner without a Thai co-signer and the likelihood of higher costs for DTV visa holders, with the consensus suggesting that traditional leasing options as found in other countries are not available in Thailand.

Just ask leasing companies. But why banks? This isn’t a bank issue. You’re renting a car long term.

There is no specific deal for DTV people. There is no leases targeted towards DTV holders.

Almost certainly you will pay more as a DTV, if they offer it at all.

If you expect to get a car lease like, similar to financing a car, then I would say your chances are practically 0

ASK car rental companies. They will rent cars monthly or longer. .

This is Thailand. There's NO leasing cars as found in other countries.

Especially for a foreigner.... Financing car needs a Thai cosigner unless you have a work permit with proven employment contract. And significantly (40%) large cash down payment.

The DTV Visa is a multiple entry TOURIST VISA for 5 years.

This isn't a DTV visa question, it's a car rental question, it's off topic and out of the scope of this group. Please delete, thanks gbye
