Hi All. Is it possible to extend a 1 year non B visa only for 3 months? And what are the cost implications for the visa holder and for the employer (if any) ? TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can extend a 1-year Non-B visa for an additional 3 months. The process requires similar paperwork to that of a full year extension, and it costs approximately 1900 Baht for the visa extension, in addition to any associated fees for extending your work permit. If you are a teacher, there may also be additional paperwork required for a teacher's waiver, which does not incur a fee but will require time.

For a non-B with a 1-year extension based on a work permit then a 3-month extension is possible. The cost is b1900 for the visa plus the cost of the work permit extension
AND
all of the associated paperwork needed to extend both the WP and visa.
If you are working as a teacher then that may also include the necessary paperwork to get a new teacher's waiver from Khrusapha (no fee but time is needed).

You certainly can apply for a 90 day extension although it costs the same as a year extension and requires the same paperwork.

You can do a border run in the last day(s) of your visa and you'll get another 90 days. However. If you leave the country within those 90 days and come back in it will be no longer on that visum terms.
I have to add to be correct: this can only be done on a one yr ME non-B from a consulate outside the country not on an extension of stay.
