Hi guys, not really a visa related question but I have an emirates flight from London to Bangkok and there’s a 15 hour layover in Dubai. I was wondering if it’s possible to leave the airport, have a little wander around Dubai for the day and go back later in the evening for the connecting flight? 🤔

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question revolves around whether one can leave Dubai Airport during a long layover. The consensus from the community suggests that it is possible to leave the airport, provided you check the specific visa requirements for your nationality. Many users shared their experiences, indicating that long layovers often allow for a visit to the city, and some also mentioned that Emirates may provide lounge access or hotel accommodation for long layovers. Important aspects to consider include checking visa requirements, using airport lounges, and the ease of transport to major attractions like Dubai Mall.

I just did an 18 hour layover in Abu Dhabi. I left the airport for around 14 hours and saw some of the sights and had lunch etc :)

Also, if you have a layover of I believe in nine hours or more they give you access to the lounges and also put you up in the airport hotel, I know this from experience from my last trip three months ago. I fly the route every 3 months and have had the free hotel many times.

Better check visa requirements. Don't trust what you read here. But if you can find a lounge that might be a good choice.

You can go out .

I stayed in Dubai couple of years back pre covid19 lol , had 10 hour to spend , cost me about 20 US dollar for airport lounge , got bit of food , managed bit of sleep , sure there was a shower but traveling light so didn’t bother , but yes was fine , main worry was not waking up for connecting flight but no problems .
