Can I include my parents as dependents on a Long-Term Resident (LTR) visa in Thailand?

Need some advice regarding dependents on LTR visa. Would my parents (over 50) be eligible or only spouse and childrens? If they are not eligible, what would be the best visa to get for them once I receive my LTR visa? I qualify under the category of working-from-thailand professionals. Wondering what Brandon Thurkettle would advise.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Long-Term Resident (LTR) visa in Thailand does not typically allow for parents over 50 to be included as dependents. Dependents usually include only a spouse and children. For parents wishing to live in Thailand, other visa options would need to be considered once you obtain your LTR visa, and it is advisable to consult with the Board of Investment (BOI) for detailed guidance.

I don't think you can include your parents as dependents, but you can ask the BOI and they should be able to answer for sure.

Just beware that I'm fairly certain you have to pay 50,000 baht for your LTR and for each dependent LTR also (spouse and children).

Are your parents planning on visiting you or coming to live in Thailand with you? The options would probably be different depending on how long they plan on staying in Thailand.

just called BOI. They did say parents are not considered dependents. Yes 50k baht is steep for each person. Are there better options for them other than the LTR?

Parents would be coming to live in Thailand. Staying here majority of the year.

either get a non-OA before coming to Thailand and showing money in their home country for the visa, or getting a non-O which will require 800,000₿ in a Thai bank account but has no insurance requirement.

understood. Thank you. This would be better than them applying for the Retirement visa?
