When I land in Bangkok can I immediately request a 30-day extension on my standard 60-day entry or do I need to do that later?
Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
When arriving in Bangkok, you typically cannot request a 30-day extension on your standard 60-day entry permit right away. Most comments suggest that the best practice is to apply for the extension no earlier than 45 days before your 60-day duration expires, and it's recommended to go to the local immigration office, considering that policies might vary by location. Some users have highlighted that applying too far in advance might not be accepted, while others have shared experiences of successfully applying just a day after arrival. It's advised to confirm with the local immigration office for specific rules and requirements.

If you do that, you will show the you are on a wrong visa scheme, and you should have applyed for a 90 day visa, instead of visa excempt.
Go in the last week before the 60 days run out.

You will not get a 30 day extension straight away, ask you local immigration office most will let you do a extension with 30 days left on your stamp some will do it with 45 days left. You will have to pay 1,900 baht and some offices will require a copy of your current TM30. So best to ask your local office exactly what their requirements are.
how was that a stupid question? If he knows he is going to stay, what's wrong with getting it out the way? What is up with all these stupid responses from people on here? He was asking a simple question. A no would be just as easy for you to reply.

I just don’t understand people that come on here with negative comments and offer nothing. The people are just asking for help. That’s what this site is for. If you don’t like the question, just scroll past it. There’s just too much of it on here lately. You could have just as easily answered no.
We have done it a day after landing on several occasions. Some of the more touristy places like Pattaya have unique rules I have been told. Check direct with their office.
It's still a 30 day extension which, in most offices, can be applied for when there is 30 days or less remaining on your 60 day entry stamp (Jomtien & Pattaya is 7 days or less remaining)
