TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about the rules regarding visa extensions based on marriage after being refused a 2-month extension by Udon immigration. They learned that permission was only granted for a 30-day extension if they could present a letter from the British Embassy. This led to a discussion highlighting that generally, one 60-day family extension per entry is allowed, and that the specific policies can vary by immigration office. The user later discovered that Udon immigration accepted a letter from the embassy sent via email, contrary to the initial information.

NEVER trust what a Foreign embassy says about Thai law. AND each immigration office is free to develop their own policies.

how will you get any extension without your passport? If you have your passport you surely don't need the 30 days, just get it and transfer to new passport later?

ah yes. sorry. They will only give an extension for the duration of the passport but you should be able to do that now. The cost won't be any different and gives you a bit more time

The embassy letter is ONLY to ask for a 30 day "unable to travel AFTER Sept 26 due to covid" extension, not for anything else..

You can only get ONE 60 day visit thai family extension per entry. You couldn't have gotten another one anyway
