TLDR : Answer Summary
The approval for a Digital Transit Visa (DTV) is not contingent on being married to a Thai citizen. Individuals can qualify for a DTV based on certain criteria like being a digital nomad or fit into other specific categories. Marital status does not influence eligibility for the DTV, and applicants must meet the required qualifications regardless of their relationship status.

I can't even believe that people take these kinds of questions seriously... a person like this isn't capable of anything near a DTV.

I am married to a Thai and have a DTV. Marital status makes no difference. However, you canโ€™t apply based on being married to a Thai, so you would need to qualify via one of the options (digital nomad, soft power, etc.)

if you have married a Thai citizen, you donโ€™t need DTV ๐Ÿ˜‚

Yes they could use the O Spouse Visa. However, it has to be renewed every year with all of the paper work and Immigration visit to your home. It costs 1900 Baht a year and you have to collect all the documentation from bank etc. If you need to travel you need to pay for re-entry permits. The DTV is 10k for 5 years and no re-entry permits required. No need for annual renewals. For many the DTV may be more convenient than a O Spouse

My friends only intend to be in Thailand 6 months a year and 6 months UK. The DTV just means less hassle and paperwork than renewing a O spouse visa each year. It is also cheaper if re-entry permits required

To get a DTV there is no category for "married to a thai" they don't care whether you're married or not.

If you want to get get a DTV you qualify based on one of the reasons they issue it

AND

before you ask, NO ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

that "spouse"one does not mean if you're married to a thai. ๐Ÿ˜•

it's for foreigners married to OTHER foreigners so that their wives/husbands can get a DTV once they get one. ..

I am asking for my American friend who married a Thai citizen.

@Apsohn ***
right, they would apply under one of the approved categories

doesn't factor in that they're married to a thai in the visa process
