TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can apply for another 30-day visa exempt extension upon your return to Thailand in May, even if you have previously obtained an extension in March.

You can get one extension off a visa exempt or tourist visa entry. Doesn’t matter if you’ve had an extension before on a previous entry.

but will I be able to get it as I saw it online that Tourist Visa Exemption category may re-enter and stay in Thailand for a cumulative duration of stay of not exceeding 90 days within any 6-month period from the date of first entry.

No idea where you saw that but that’s not a rule or law. Immigration could deny you entry if they believe you are bucking the system, but once you are in you can get an extension.
