TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers around the feasibility of obtaining a Chinese visa while holding a Thai DTV visa. Several commenters clarify that one's eligibility for a Chinese visa primarily depends on the passport's nationality rather than the type of visa held in Thailand. It's confirmed that individuals can apply for a Chinese visa in Thailand with a DTV visa by uploading the entry stamp page, regardless of whether visa-free entry is available.

You can apply Chinese visa in Thailand with DTV, just need to upload the entry stamp page. Even with visa-free,can still apply. No problem.

Most Europeans and a few others (40-45 countries) can visit China visa-free now. Many of them get 30 days entry. If your country isn't on that list then you can still enter visa-free for 10 days provided you fly on to a third country. People from 55 countries can do this. So you'd fly from Bangkok to Shanghai, for example, then on your way back you'd fly to Hong Kong or Tokyo or any other country except directly to Thailand. Just buy two tickets home. One to Hong Kong and one from Hong Kong to Bangkok. My husband used to enter on the 10 day plan and fly back via Hong Kong or Vietnam, but now he's on the 30 day visa-free list so he can buy direct return tickets.

I believe that your ability to obtain a visa to visit China is based on your passport nation, NOT what kind of Thai Visa you hold in Thailand.

Damm how did you get an DTV Visa and asking that question sorry …

You don’t use your visa from another country. If you’re talking about having the visa present in your passport, most of us don’t have that, so you’re asking if China will discriminate if you have it in your passport is that right?

Why would a DTV help or not help with a Chinese visa 🤷‍♂️

A lot of embassies only allow applicants who are citizen of that country or have long term visa for that country.

So the question here is, does Chinese embassy in Bangkok allow people with DTV to apply.

Your Thai DTV visa has no effect on other visas

It might not have a direct effect on the other visa, because passport is leading, but it can have effect on where you can apply.

I’ve read that you need to be a long term resident on a long term visa to apply for a visa for China in Bangkok. I’m unsure though so was just wondering if anyone has tried.

Anonymous participant You don't.

Anonymous participant post the Chinese govt visa website and I will look but dtv is for 5 years. Surely long enough

DTV is technically not a long term resident visa, but a tourist visa with a stay of 180 days, but 180 days might be enough for Chinese embassy in Bangkok.
