TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses whether a person holding a DTV visa in Thailand can apply for a tourist visa to Japan. It mentions that applications can be accepted, provided the applicant can demonstrate some form of residency in Thailand, such as a TM30, tenancy agreement, or utility bills. Others in the discussion confirm that visa applications are not restricted for DTV holders, unlike some other nationalities which have stricter rules.

Many countries don't need a visa to enter Japan for differing periods. If you are from a country on the list you can just travel

Yes you can apply 💯. Korea visa needs at least 2 years residency. Japan doesn’t have any restrictions.

Yes, absolutely fine. We applied here for Japanese visas as DTV holders

I think you can proof some kind of residency with a TM30 or a Thai Driving License if you have one

What he possibly means is could he apply for tourist visa at the Japan embassy in Bangkok. As he is not a local/permanent resident/work permit holder, would the embassy even accept his application

The other posters don’t seem to know what you mean but you’re essentially asking because Japan requires tourist visa applications be made from ones country of residence OR citizenship and whether the Japanese Embassy will consider you resident for that purpose.

It’s a long term visa so, according to the rules and if you can submit a tenancy agreement and utility bills, you’ll meet the conditions.

yeap, a lot of "knowledge people" with zero experience about the matter comments their wild guessing. I bet they don't even need a visa for Japan, so they won't even understand why the OP is asking.

DTV visa means nothing applying for other countries.

GorgeousJaguar5860 you sure? it's wild if you're just guessing with any previous experience or knowledge from the matter. Some countries ask that you have a Thailand visa in order to get visas for those countries IF applying from Thailand.
