Hi guys, hopefully just a quick question. Changing from retirement visa to marriage. Money seasoned etc got all docs. I went to Jomtien Immigration today to ask for requirements info. He also gave me form.for extension of stay to complete. I assume this is to tide me over in the interim period between retirement visa stopping and marriage visa is granted!! Am I correct. Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is considering transitioning from a retirement visa to a marriage visa and seeks clarification on the required steps. After visiting Jomtien Immigration, they received a form for an extension of stay and want to know if they need this to cover the period between their retirement visa ending and the marriage visa being granted. Comments clarify that they are not changing from one type of visa to another but rather changing the basis of their current extension from retirement to marriage, requiring them to apply for a new extension with an under consideration period.

Don't do it until your next extension is due or you will lose what's left on your retirement extension as the new 12 month extension based on marriage will kick in at the time of application

I believe you're mixed up a bit..

You are not changing from a retirement visa to a marriage visa.

You aren't on any retirement visa right now, and if you looked at your stamp I would bet it would say "extension of stay permitted until" and have a date that your extension is good for.

What you are actually doing is changing the reason for your extension from one based on retirement to one based on marriage and all you're doing is applying for a brand new extension which is why he gave you the TM7 application for extension paper.

You'll go to the immigration office, apply for a new extension for 1900 baht, you will get a 30-day under consideration stamp (because it's an extension based on marriage to a thai) and when that stamp runs out you go back and they will ink in the one year extension of stay.
