Can I get a 6-month METV for Thailand during a 3.5-week stay in the UK?

Hi,

I am coming to Thailand for 5 weeks at the end of August.

I am then back in the UK for 3 1/2 weeks before heading back to Thailand for just over 5 months, from the beginning November.

For the November trip, I was thinking that the 6 month METV would be the best visa to get.

If so, will the 3 1/2 weeks that I am back in the UK be enough time to get the visa.

TIA X

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is planning a trip to Thailand, first for 5 weeks at the end of August and then again for over 5 months starting in November. They are considering applying for a 6-month Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) and want to know if the 3.5 weeks they will be in the UK is sufficient to obtain the visa. Comments suggest that as long as the necessary documents are prepared, visa processing in London typically takes 3 to 5 days, meaning they should have plenty of time to get the visa.

Plenty of time. If you're docs are in order the e-visa is issued in 2-3 days in London

Just register and log in to the eVisa website and you'll be able to see the requirements. They do differ a bit compared to a single 60 days tourist visa, for example when it comes to financial proof. They also differ depending on nationality.

RTE London typically issues visas in 3 to 5 days if you meet the requirements

would have thought that being a tourist spending money, having a return flight booked and not overstaying would be the requirements.

can you think of a better, cheaper way? If all goes well, I will be going for the retirement visa next year, so I don't want to blot my copy book with immigration.

the mythical rule ;)

If you meet the requirements and have every document needed for the upload, the time will not be a problem.

do you need many documents? I haven't properly looked at it, I think I assumed that it was just a straight forward tourist visa that you paid for.
