Can I extend my visa multiple times in Thailand, and how can I stay long-term?

I would like to ask, I have heard that visa renewal in Thai immigration is only possible once, but even if u change location, will it not be possible to renew visa more than once?

Currently, I was planning to renew my visa at some immigration office at the end of April within the 60-day limit, renew it somewhere else the following month, and then apply for a visa in LAOS to get another 2 months, for a total of 6 months, but does that mean I can't do that?

Am I correct in understanding that I can get another 60 days when I run the visa to the border? However, it seems that the regulations for visa runs are getting stricter, and there is a possibility that I could be deported, so I would like to avoid that if possible, and if I can only renew my visa once at immigration, how can I stay for 180 days/1 year? If you know, I would also like to know.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Visa renewals are not typically permitted in Thailand, as you can only extend a stay once for a fee or apply for a new visa. A standard tourist visa allows for an initial stay of 60 days, which can be extended for an additional 30 days at a local immigration office. While it is possible to perform a visa run to acquire a new 60-day stamp, regulations are becoming stricter, making this option riskier. To stay longer, consider applying for a multiple-entry tourist visa from a Thai embassy, which allows for multiple 60-day entries with potential extensions.

You can travel to another country and apply on line for a visa.

Firstly visa renewals are not possible. You can either extend your stay for a fee or you buy a new visa.

A visa exempt or tourist visa gives you 60 days on entry. For most countries you can extend that once for 30 days at a local immigration office.

If you qualify for visa exempt you can do a border bounce to get a new exempt stamp for 60 days - but yes they are cracking down on those.

Alternatively look at buying a multiple entry tourist visa from your home country’s Thai embassy.

It’s valid for 6 month from issue and each entry gives you 60 days with the possibility of extending for 30 days as well.

With the right timing and bounces you can eke out almost 9 months from that visa. Generally with no hassle each entry.
