Hi !

I’m a French passport holder with a TR visa that I already extended (+30d). I arrived with the Phuket sandbox. I currently have the possibility to stay until the 15 November. I would like to stay 2 more month with the covid extension (until mid January). Will it be possible in my case ? What are the requirements ? And which documents should I bring to obtain the extension ?

Thank you very much in advance,

Leo

TLDR : Answer Summary
The author, a French passport holder with a TR visa extended by 30 days, inquires about the possibility of extending their stay in Thailand for an additional 2 months until mid-January using the COVID extension. A comment suggests visiting the immigration office a few weeks before the current visa expiration to apply for a 60-day COVID extension.

When you have a couple weeks left on your current stamp go to the immigration office that serves the area where you are staying before your current stamp runs out and apply for a 60 day covid extension. They should add the new extension to the expiration date you have now.

There is no harm in the O/P going close to the date that their current stamp runs out. The program isn't stopping before their stamp runs out.

I am stating only that for people who have recently entered thailand and who have used their one 30 day regular extension that most offices are ADDING the covid extension on their expiration date (even though the stamp is dated the date you apply the expiration date is 60 days out from the date their current stamp runs out) <- that is the experience of the posters who are getting the covid extension added to a 30 day extension. I think it's done that way because there is no other stamp they can go on after they get that 30 day extension so they're not penalized for getting a covid extension

okey thanks for your answer ! There are no specific requirements ?

When should I apply for this extension ? A few days before the end of my TR VISA or whenever I want, starting now ?

You should do it as close to your "admitted to" date as possible, because the 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 starts on the day you apply.

Different immigration offices have different requirements, but all require the following:

1. Your passport and:

a. a copy of your data ("picture") page

b. a copy of your most recent visa (if you have one)

c. a copy of your most recent stamp

d. a copy of your departure card

2. [May not be asked at Bangkok Immigration] A TM30, filed in the immigration office.

3. The forms (each immigration office may have different forms, and want to use their special forms). For Bangkok Immigration, the forms are located in this group in the "files" section.

4. [Not asked at Bangkok Immigration] A letter from your embassy saying you can not return, OR a print out from your embassy website saying they don’t issue the letters, OR a print out of a letter from the embassy saying they don't issue those letters.

5. 2x passport pictures

6. 1,900 THB.

Different immigration offices have different policies. *SOME* may require:

- The ID card of the property owner where you are staying

- Copies of *ALL* stamped pages in your passport

, I thought so, but your comment conflicts with the comment by

to my first comment, now I'm confused and not sure which is more-likely-case..

I just talked to Tod, and he is saying that most immigration offices are adding the 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 ON to the current "admitted to" stamp.

I'd take Tod's advice, since he's more in tune to the latest changes then I am.

Thanks for your great answer ! Your recommandation is to do it lately (like the 13th november if My TR extension is finishing the 15th) and in Bangkok because it looks easier no ?

You will file the 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 at the immigration office where the TM30 was filed. You may be required to show the TM30 before they process the extension of stay.

OP sounds like still on a 30days tourism extension to me. Will a Covid extension be "added" now from the first Covid extension?

@Ellie ******
once they have used all the regular extensions they can get on their entry stamp (like the 30 day stamp) the offices usually add the next stamp to the expiration date. It's only when people try to go straight to a 60 day covid extension that I see them start the day they apply for it
