Hi everyone, I’m looking for some clarity on my current visa situation at the Chiang Mai Immigration office. I am a German citizen currently in Chiang Mai on a TR-60 tourist visa (entered April 24, 2026, valid until June 22, 2026).
My travel history (2025/2026):
Nov 7, 2025 – Dec 28, 2025: Entered Thailand, left early.
Jan 1, 2026 – March 1, 2026: Entered with a tourist visa, extended until March 31, 2026.
April 24, 2026 – June 22, 2026: Re-entered with a TR-60 visa.
The situation:
I visited the Immigration office at Central Festival recently just to ask about my options. They told me it would be "no problem" to extend my stay until mid-July to cover my flight home. However, after doing some research online, I’ve read several reports claiming that for a second extension within the same calendar year, the office often only grants 7 days instead of the standard 30-day extension.
Has anyone here recently been in a similar situation?
How reliable is the initial "no problem" advice from the staff at Central Festival?
Should I be concerned that my application for 30 days will be downgraded to just 7 days because of my previous extension in March?
Given that I am on a formal TR-60 visa, does this carry more weight than a visa-exempt entry?
I want to make sure I don't get stuck in a situation where I'm left with only 7 extra days when I need until mid-July. Any recent experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
