Hello. I have a single entry Non-imm B business visa (90 days). I've just looked up the Thai Consulate website, and it mentions extensions allowable, but I've heard otherwise. Can I get a 30 day extension in Samui on this visa? Thanks in advance (and I did a search of the group and couldn't find anything. Thanks).

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the possibility of extending a single entry Non-imm B business visa (90 days) by 30 days in Samui. Comments reveal mixed information: extensions for Non-imm B usually require substantial paperwork and are often limited to 7 days, although other visa types may permit longer extensions. It's suggested that one must meet specific requirements for extensions, or risk a short-term stay of 7 days following an unsuccessful application.

You cannot apply extension for Non-B without bunch of paperwork from your employer or company. And it's usually 1 year extension. I'm not sure if Samui immigration grants you 7 days for denial of extension (that means at lest they accept your application) without those paperwork.

For those who have family in Thailand, wife, husband or children, they can apply for the 60 day Extension of Stay based on visit family members.

The Visa Exempt Entry and the Tourist Visa can be extended with 30 days. Non Immigrant ED Visa can be extended with 60 or 90 days depending on school and Immigration. Other Non Immigrant visa based on marriage, work, over 50 years of age etc can be extended with 1 year. In all cases you need to meet the requirements, if you do not meet them your application will be not approved and get 7 days to leave the country. Cost of application for Extension of Stay is 1.900 Thb.

Update: BOI was kind enough to hurry, so I was in fact able to extend under section 24 without the need to out of the country. But section 24 is possible only for those who are already officially in the BOI application process.

Overstaying is not a good idea, the whole process is already 2 months behind schedule. DBD's "one day" setup process alone has already taken over 2 weeks. I'm sure the documents will come one day, just don't know which day in the future that one day will be.

But it looks like it would still be possible to get an extension under section 24. Too bad I only noticed it now, earlier I though it would not be a possibility at this stage and time is running short.

then in that case you either go on overstay (at 500baht a day) until the paperwork comes in to apply for extension (which happens quite often) OR you go out of the country and get a new 90 day single entry Non-B visa to start the process all over again.

Damn. My problem is that can't get all the necessary papers yet as DBD and BOI take so long in issuing the documents even though everything is already approved.

Correct, it is 1 year if you meet the requirements or 7 days not approved and leave the country.

Strangely enough, I am currently in the same situation (except in BKK) and trying to find out the same. Waiting for company documents from DBD and BOI, but visa about to expire because of slow processes.

Thanks, so looks like the answer is a definite maybe. Well, I guess the only way to know for sure is to gather all available documents and try it at Chaengwattana.

. However, you may have grounds for extenuating circumstances if you can get a letter from the company involved?

For anyone interested, Island Travel Koh Tao have just informed me that non-imm B can only get a 7 day extension, and it's still 2,000 baht.

that you paid 2000 baht doesn't mean that's what it cost. :O It's printed right on the TM.7 application the cost of the extension.

I still say you should have asked for your change.

Lol. That 100 baht makes all the difference. And I got an extension at Samui a year ago on a tourist Visa, and it was 2,000 baht at Samui Immigration. I'm not employed. I'm here on a business Visa for clients looking at investment in technology in Thailand. I've had the one year previously for business, but the Embassy in Australia said they had cracked down, and could only give 90 day single entry. So no employer to give me documentation. Thank you though.

umm, ALL extensions of stay are 1900baht at the immigration office NOT 2000baht :/ AND you can get a yearly extension on a Non-B with documentation from your employer.

What you are talking about with that 7 day 'extension' is actually an "application for extension NOT approved" stamp that gives you 7 days to get out of thailand
